Prizefighter 2 Quarterfinal Feature: Jeff Chiffens
Jeff Chiffens is finally back by popular demand after his debuting knockout in November and unforgettable fighting style. He will battle ‘Smudger’ Smith in the opening round of the Prizefighter tournament on September 14th, but for Chiffens, it’s a fight with himself.
Everyone is all too familiar with what took place on November 9th, 2018 in Casper, Wyoming. Within the Casper Events Center, not only would a promotion makes their bare-knuckle debut, but so would Jeff Chiffens. While things took a turn for the worse, bringing the promotion to a complete close, Chiffens would walk away with one of the most memorable fighting styles and knockouts of the evening.
At WBKFF 1: ‘Rise of the Titans’, Chiffens would earn a knockout over Fred Pierce, who was also making his bare-knuckle boxing debut that same night. Though an amazing finish, one everyone remembers, it was his style and approach to the fight that had everyone in awe.
Unorthodox, to say the least, Pierce admitted following his knockout loss that he wasn’t prepared for Chiffens fighting style. Unable to adjust to the odd approach, it would spell the end for Pierce early in the first round. Chiffens, though the opener and most unknown, was the topic of discussion the rest of the night.
Now, after being made official by BKBtm co-owners, Jim Freeman and Joe Smith, Chiffens has signed to the England based promotion and will enter into the Prizefighter tournament, kicking off September 14th at the O2 in London, England.
It’s been a long journey for Jeff, since his outing last November. Though he was never paid for his performance at WBKFF 1, Chiffens never lost interest in the sport of BKB, searching for a way back into the newly legalized sport.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.” Chiffens continued, “I had been searching for a way back into the fight game since December, but every door was shut and locked. I almost lost hope, but Jesus was the rock that busted out a window for me to climb through, and here I am.”
With the draw for the Prizefighter tournament having taken place earlier this month (July 2019), Chiffens has drawn BKB veteran, ‘Smudger’ Smith, who was a semi-finalist of the very first Prizefighter.
‘Smudger’ will bring the greater bare-knuckle boxing experience, however, that’s no bother to Chiffens.
Admitting he is his greatest enemy, it will be a battle with what lies within come September 14th. The focus will remain on himself, Jeff Chiffens.
“’Smudger’ Smith looks like a serious dude and he’s got a cool name, but besides that, I don’t really focus on my opponent. I’m my worst enemy. No one can hurt me like me, the real fight within.”
As Chiffens closed out the interview when asked what his message for Smith was, he left us with a quote: “Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they’ll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still, they’ll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it’s the sand of the coliseum.”
Live on PPV and FITE tv, Jeff Chiffens makes his long-awaited return to bare-knuckle boxing, taking on a fan favourite, ‘Smudger’ Smith in the opening round of the Prizefighter 2 tournament.
