WIGAN plasterer Dan McGraffin is chasing his American Dream after conquering the world of bareknuckle boxing.
The 34 year old took just 88 seconds to take the world middleweight championship off Dan Lerwell in front of 3,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena.
Millions more around the world saw McGraffin drop the Welshman twice and leave his left eye bloodied and swollen shut.
He then called for a trip to the States to defend his belt.
McGraffin has signed a three-year deal with promoters BKB TM and their link-up with Back Yard Boxing Extreme in the States means a defence in America is possible.
McGraffin said: “I want to go to Miami !
“I would love to defend it over there.”
McGraffin rolled the dice when he agreed to fight Lerwell, who is one of the biggest names in bareknuckle boxing.
Lerwell has a reputation for being a knockout specialist – but McGraffin had him on the floor with his first punch.
He connected with a jab that had the champion on the seat of his trunks.
Lerwell took a long count and soon found himself back on the floor after McGraffin smashed him with a short right uppercut that left him with his left eye bloodied and swollen.
The referee let the fight continue – but seconds later it was all over. McGraffin connected with a jab and Lerwell was badly hurt, forcing the referee to step in.
